Ask, and it shall be given to you; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it shall be opened to you.  Matt. 7:7
GIVING GOD YOUR BEST

Christians have traditionally "dressed up" for Sunday morning services while being less formal for Sunday and Wednesday evenings. I believe that's both appropriate and in accordance with Biblical teaching.

As I consider the comments and opinions expressed by various individuals regarding a Christian's clothing, one thing stands out: We are to offer our best to God. Yet no one contends that we should always wear coats and ties(for men) and dresses (for women) in all our service to God. I'm not advocating a "dress down" policy while attendincg services. But I am saying to offer our best is much more than what we wear to an assembly. I Timothy 2:9 states: that "women to adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with braided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array." What we are to clothe ourselves with (male or female) is not some outward show of quality apparel, but an inner quality of submission reflected in a lifestyle of doing good. Paul's teaching here is only that our clothing be modest. The wearing of blue jeans, pants suits, and other it "casual" clothing is an individual choice and should not be legislated by any person or persons. Again, modesty is the rule for all individuals.

Incidentally the "casual look" in some cases may be more modest than the "formal look." May each of us strive to be modest and clothed with good works. If that is accomplished, then God is glorified.
